Who knew that Alabama had such beautiful resorts? Well, I guess people in Alabama probably, but it was a bit of a surprise to us, albeit a pleasant one, to discover the Ross Bridge near Birmingham and this Marriott near Montgomery, Alabama.
Located a short drive outside the main part of town, the Marriott Prattville is situated on 1,600 acres of lush woodland featuring a championship golf course.
It’s done as a modern day lodge, all wood and stone and elegance. You’d almost expect there to be a hill with snow on it nearby.
Features include an onsite restaurant, a fitness center, business services, and plenty of personal services like laundry and dry cleaning.
There are about 70 guest rooms in the main building where we stayed, each large with comfortable modern furnishings, great beds, big bathrooms, and high-end amenities. Many of them have balconies overlooking the lush countryside. Each has high-speed Internet access, pay-per-view movies, coffee makers, and more.
In addition there are 2 eight-bedroom villas and a five-bedroom cottage if you’re bringing the whole extended family for a golf outing.
The service was efficient and friendly, especially when we pestered the nice lady at the front desk for directions to the nearest ice cream. She got us their safely and quickly and that scores major points in our book.
